Family Parks and Recreations

The way we think has been to assume such place has no family oriented places.  That is sunken in the repetitive encore of play and entertain.  Think again of what places that stick in your mind already.  I have been to many outdoor like settings made for just for family and the activities involved. Floyd Lamb State Park at Tule Springs Ranch has been a place of history and family enjoyment.  It has lots of ponds, with fish to go fishing, ducks, bunnies and horses to ride.  This season coming up is the Halloween Celebration. It will have Food trucks, trunk-or-treating by flashlight, games, vendors and DJ music.  Another great place is Red Rock National Conservation Area that is located 15 miles west of Las Vegas.  It has a 13 miles scenic drive. It has three parts that a great for family outings. One is Spring Mountain Ranch Park where you can have a picnic and play your favorite family outdoor games or have a nice walk around the park that had a house on top of the hill.  The third place is Bonnie Springs where it has a western world setting with skits of the Wild West and further back is the little zoo with all different kinds of animals.  The train takes you from a parking area up to the entrance of the this old town.  And lastly, Blue Diamond is a little town in itself that has a population of 290.  It is a quaint town with a gas station, church and library.  Mount Charleston is a national park good for some hiking, skiing and touring.  During the winter Lee Canyon Ski and Snowboard Resort has a lodge to dine and relax in, and a shop to browse at.  There are many hiking trails and the most popular trail is Mary Jane Falls that is a 2.5 mile hike that features a waterfall at the end.  In between your hikes and skiing is the Mount Charleston Lodge that also has cabins for you to stay and enjoy overnight.  There is a restaurant that serves different types of meats to your liking for example the Buffalo meal.  It is a sweet tasting meat served with choices of sides.  One more recreational place is Lake Mead National Recreational Area located south of Las Vegas about 24 miles from the strip.  It is a great place to go fishing, swimming, hiking and boating.  It has a upper basin and a lower basin areas.  The lower basin is very easy to drive to since it’s closest to the city and the upper basin is further up with more water and higher elevation.  There are a few sandy beaches where you can anchor your boat and have a little picnic.  There is some fishing with catches of strippers, catfish, carp, trout and bass.  The hikes are great with windy trails all around the lake with some nice overlooks and cliffs to view from.  One more great place is Craig’s Ranch that is located 12 miles north from the strip.  It has a dark park, skate park, garden area and play area for the kids.  The park is not a park without a few ponds ducks and turtles speckled around.  It covers all your sporting needs with basketball, volleyball, and swimming areas.  It has a few shaded picnic areas to enjoy a day at the park.  As you can see, there’s a great deal of wonderful locations to enjoy a family outing.
