Family Parks and Recreations

The way we think has been to assume such place has no family oriented places.  That is sunken in the repetitive encore of play and entertain.  Think again of what places that stick in your mind already.  I have been to many outdoor like settings made for just for family and the activities involved. Floyd Lamb State Park  at Tule Springs Ranch  has been a place of history and family enjoyment.  It has lots of ponds, with fish to go fishing, ducks, bunnies and horses to ride.  This season coming up is the Halloween Celebration . It will have Food trucks, trunk-or-treating by flashlight, games, vendors and DJ music.  Another great place is  Red Rock National Conservation Area  that is located 15 miles west of Las Vegas.  It has a 13 miles scenic drive. It has three parts that a great for family outings. One is Spring Mountain Ranch Park where you can have a picnic and play your favorite family outdoor games or have a nice walk around t...

Hotels and places

There are a few places that are the top of my list of casinos to stay at.  It has been quite an adventure doing so.  The least expensive is the Eastside Cannery Hotel and Casino  on Boulder Highway.  If you look at the look at the lights outside of the hotel, you can see it changes colors every four seconds.  It has the most clean and classy like rooms in town for its price.  It fits a good four people without complaint inside the area to sleep and watch television.  It has a nice view of the mountains on side and the city on the other. Another great stay was at The Mirage .  They have great places to plan your stay like the ice cream parlor, restaurants, and pools.  They had a suite that had two beds in one room and in the living area are enough to pull out a bed from a couch and a rollaway bed.  The dining area can do up to eight people comfortably.  It very relaxing and it looked like you were in the Caribbean. The ...

From Tower to Bayou

Restaurants are one of the big experiences that you can attain here in the Vegas valley.   The Stratosphere  is a tall casino jutting out of the city.   Top of the World  restaurant is a great way to see the town below.   The dinner is usually a nice three course meal.   You can choose from a variety listing from steak to seafood.   As you are enjoying your dinner, the restaurant is spinning around 360 degrees every 80 minutes.   Once you are finished with your dinner, you are back where you started.   Their food is very good.   They also serve lunch as well.   Another good restaurant is Chicago Joe’s . It is an Italian based place set inside a house.  Each room has tables and chairs to sit at.  Of course the kitchen is where they cook at. They have a little fireplace to set the mood. It is only lighted with natural light during the day or candle light at night. The menu includes lunch and dinner.  Everything i...

Candy Land and Ice Cream Dreams

As a kid almost everyone wants treats with their trip or celebrations!  One of the first places that is on the strip is Serendipity 3 right in front of Ceasar’s Palace.  It is closed due to another place opening in place of that.  But I mention it because it has been an iconic place that spurred on to so many other dessert restaurants around the valley.  Hexx Kitchen  has some great shakes that is made from their line of ice creams and some of their sweet candies.  There is a sit up bar like area where you can taste test the different chocolate candies they make on the spot.  If you want to stay and eat, they have a restaurant with a full menu from breakfast items to dinner items, or late night items also.  Buddy Valastro who is also known as the Cake Boss  on his show on The Learning Channel.  He has opened another Carlo’s Bakery inside The Venetian.  It is a dainty bakery that you can come in and order a slice of cake or anything ...

Circus Circus as Pink

Since I can remember,  Circus Circus  has been the first casino that was family orientated.  It has evolved so much over the years.  Now it has so much more to choose from.  Let’s start with the restaurants.  The  Blue Iguana  is a Mexican restaurant that is located in the promenade level.  It has a fiesta type of feel to it.  They have a great menu ranging from  menudo  to  fish tacos  with a good price range.  There’s a pizza restaurant called the  Pizzeria .  They have calzones, pizza, salads and sandwiches.  Then there’s other restaurants like their deli or their steak house.  As you go more at the heart of the casino is the  Midway  that is an inside carnival with your up to date arcade games. The circus is not a circus without circus acts performed throughout the whole day.  Acrobats, clowns, dancing dogs are all different acts you might see while you sprawl through the Mi...

Big Bellagio

When you think of fountains, you might think of  Bellagio .  But let us talk about the other parts that may intrigue you.  When you walk in from the parking garage, there is a little indoor water fountain that has little pillars and statues in the middle.  They always have fresh flowers adorned around the fountain.  Look further up from there and you gaze at a beautiful garden also known as Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens .  Every season they put out a new garden for the public to see.  This season is the Japanese Spring.  There is a Koi pond with koi fish and some finches chirping inside their cages.  There is a chocolate patisserie as you walk further up towards the pools.  They make sandwiches, coffee,  crepes , gelatos and a variety of  pastries .  Book a room at the guest front desk that is decorated with glass art up in the ceiling. Their rooms have great views either over the pool or looking out at the f...

The Link to the Linq

There is a ferris wheel that is called the  High Roller .  It is an outside shopping mall by the strip across from Ceasar’s Palace.  You can browse along the little boutique shops like  Honolulu Cookie Shop ,  Havaianas , and  Harley Davidson  just to name a few.  Sometimes you may want a bite to eat at either in the Haute Doggery ,   Sprinkles Cupcakes , and maybe some fresh sandwich at  Canter’s Deli .  I’m the middle part of the mall is a water fountain that has color and lights with music that goes on every so often while you sit a gaze at the spectacle.  I mean I do not mind some free entertainment but what catches my eye is the white ferris wheel that stands hovering over me beckoning to get me to ride the enclosed cabins.  It is a must see for those who want to view the city from the ride.  From start to finish, it takes 30 minutes.  Kids and adults alike can enjoy the ride and view.  At nig...
